About This Blend

The Cozy Winter Tea Bundle is a warming, aromatic collection of spice herbs that evoke the comfort of the season. Inspired by traditional chai and mulled spice traditions from around the world, these five ingredients come together to create a deeply satisfying cold-weather brew — spicy, sweet, citrusy, and rich.

What's Inside

  • Ginger Root (Zingiber officinale) — Fiery and warming, ginger root is the backbone of any spiced tea. Supports circulation and digestion, and adds a bold, peppery heat to the blend.
  • Cinnamon (Batavian) (Cinnamomum burmannii) — Also known as Korintje or Indonesian cinnamon, Batavian cinnamon is bold, sweet, and intensely spiced — the variety most commonly found in American kitchens. Adds warmth and sweetness.
  • Cloves (Syzygium aromaticum) — Intensely aromatic and slightly numbing, cloves bring a deep, resinous warmth to the blend. Use with a measured hand — their flavor is powerful.
  • Orange Peel (Citrus sinensis) — Bright, citrusy, and slightly bitter. Dried orange peel lifts the heavier spices and adds a cheerful, fruity top note that rounds out the blend beautifully.
  • Cardamom Pods (Elettaria cardamomum) — Floral, spicy, and complex. Whole cardamom pods release their flavor slowly during simmering, adding an aromatic depth that ground cardamom can't match.

How to Blend

For a balanced winter spice blend, start with these proportions:

  • 3 parts Ginger Root
  • 3 parts Cinnamon (Batavian)
  • 2 parts Orange Peel
  • 1 part Cardamom Pods
  • ½ part Cloves

Store the whole herbs together in an airtight jar. Grind or crack as needed just before brewing for the freshest flavor. Pre-mixed, this blend keeps well for up to 18 months in a cool, dark place.

Preparation Directions

Simmered Spice Tea: Lightly crack cardamom pods and combine 1–2 tablespoons of blend with 12 oz of cold water in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes. Strain and serve with milk and honey for a chai-style drink.

Steep Method: For a lighter brew, use 1–2 teaspoons of blend per 8 oz of boiling water. Steep covered for 10–12 minutes. Strain well — a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth works best for whole spices. Sweeten to taste.

Mulled Cider or Wine: Add 2–3 tablespoons of blend to a pot of apple cider or red wine. Simmer on low for 20–30 minutes. Strain and serve warm. A festive and aromatic winter treat.
